Let’s keep the world running

We’ve been helping leading companies across industries prevent failures and downtime since 1998 — by analyzing oils, greases, coolants, and fuels.

Catch problems before they cause damage

Extend the life of your oil and machines

Save money by optimizing oil changes

Why bother?

Maintenance costs are rising. Teams are shrinking. Machines are getting more advanced. Lubricants keep evolving and getting more expensive. Throw in inconsistent filter quality, and keeping equipment running smoothly has never been harder.

The result? More breakdowns, longer downtimes, and higher repair bills. Miss the early warning signs, and small issues turn into major failures — costing time, money, and reliability.

The solution is simple and cost effective: a structured oil analysis program. By monitoring lubricant condition and cleanliness throughout a machine’s life, we help you catch problems early, prevent failures, and extend the life of both your oil and equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of oil analysis?

Oil analysis is traditionally viewed as a preventive maintenance tool, offering insights into machine condition, wear, and the need for oil filtration or replacement. In fact, dirty oil is responsible for about 80% of machine failures and greatly reduces component lifespan — dirty oil kills your machines.

However, we see oil analysis as much more than just a maintenance tool. It’s a valuable asset for quality, environmental, and safety management systems, benefiting your entire organization. With oil analysis, you can save significant costs, protect the environment, ensure uninterrupted production, and safeguard the health and safety of your workforce.

We’d be happy to explain how your company can unlock the full benefits of oil analysis and implement an effective oil monitoring program.

How do I choose the right analysis?

Our analysis packages have been carefully refined over the years to offer the best balance between quality and cost. The easiest way to choose the package is by the system type — you can choose, for example, a standard analysis for hydraulic oil or engine oil.

Alternatively, you can select analyses based on the issue you’re addressing. Are you concerned about lubricant condition, cleanliness, or machine wear? Sometimes, a single test — such as water content, viscosity, or particle contamination — will do the job. However, for a complete understanding of lubricant health, cleanliness, and machine wear, a full analysis is recommended.

How much sample should I take, and how?

The goal of sampling is to collect a representative sample from the system into the sample bottle. While detailed instructions are available, common sense is usually enough. The sampling method depends on where the sample is taken from the system. You can collect the sample directly into the bottle from a pressure or return line or, if needed, by using a vacuum pump.

The sample size depends on the analysis package selected. For standard analyses, a sample size of 200 ml (2 dl) is usually enough. It’s always better to send a little extra rather than too little. The minimum amount required is 100 ml (1 dl), but this may not be enough for repeat measurements. For special turbine oil analysis, 1,000 ml (1 liter) is required. If additional tests are needed, we recommend sending a 1-liter bottle or contacting us to confirm the exact amount.

Where do I send the sample, and when are the results ready?

Make sure the sample bottle cap is tightly closed and the sample is securely packed, using oil-absorbent material or padding if necessary. Send the sample to the following address: Fluidlab Oy, Iso-Heikkiläntie 8 (Room 229, 2nd floor), 20200 Turku, Finland.

You can send the sample via Posti, Matkahuolto, another courier service, or deliver it directly to our lab. If shipping by Posti, please include a contact person’s name and phone number on the package. Keep the tracking number in case the package needs to be traced.

How much does an analysis cost?

The price depends on the analysis type and the number of samples. Individual analyses range from €10 to €2,000. For just around €140, you can get a high-quality analysis package that includes multiple tests for industrial or engine oil.

Send us your contact details or give us a call, and we’ll discuss your specific needs and provide a personalized quote. We can also provide pricing for individual analyses.
